Chinese Export Lacquered Sewing Cabinet with black and cinnabar lacquer picked out in gold decoration. Octagonal shaped case with original brass bail handles and gilt claw feet. Sliding drawer and hinged lid reveal various fitted compartments. Kitted out completely with many carved ivory sewing accessories including thimbles, spools, needle cases, miniature clamps, etc. Also contains 19th c. spools from Connecticut mills - c. 1830.
